Saint John of Damascus wrote many important theological works and hymns that are treasured by the Orthodox and used in the Liturgical cycle of the Church to this day. He peacefully slept in the Lord in the year 749. The Miraculous Holy Icon of the Mother of God of Three Hands before which he was healed exists to this day and can be venerated at the Monastery of Hilandar on Holy Mount Athos, Greece.
