This is the first English Translation from the original Russian of St. TIkhon's work entitled Flesh and Spirit (Плоть и Духъ). This book consists of 34 chapters on moral subjects. Each chapter begins with texts selected from Holy Scripture, then commentary from St. John Chrysostom is added, and finally St. Tikhon's own contemplations and exhortations are arranged in articles. In many ways this book is the precursor to his magnum opus On True Christianity. Also, due to this relation and its smaller size, it may function as a "primer" or compendium preparing one for reading the larger work.
