Saint Porphyrios was totally against neo-orthodox and meta-patristic views on pre-martial relations, avoiding childbirth, pleasire for its own sake and full liberty in relations before or within marraige. He followed in everything the Orthodox patristic line.

He forbade pre-marital relations and expressly condemned avoiding childbirth as a grave sin.

Within marriage, he allowed only the normal intercourse that leads to conception and nothing else. He did not allow any kind of perversion.

He recommended subduing the flesh, fighting hedonism, fasting, bodily harship, struggle and constant meticulous repentance.

He called people to transform passionate urges into divine love through spiritual study, unceasing prayer, church life and abstinence.
